Jose Tovar

Hi, there! My name is Jose Tovar, and I am a junior at the University of Florida studying journalism with a specialization in sports and media. I was born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela, and I moved to the United States in 2017. Being born in that country made me a baseball fan by law.

Although I never played the sport, I have become passionate about everything surrounding it. Even so, that, in the future, I would love to work for a Major League Baseball team as a Spanish media liaison doing media relations with international players and coaches. So far, I’ve had a taste of my dream career when I covered the Miami Marlins for a baseball website in the summer of 2021. I’ve also sharpened my reporting skills at UF by working with the Independent Florida Alligator, WRUF and Noticias WUFT.

I’m beyond thrilled about this opportunity. I can’t wait to take a road trip down Florida and bring you exciting stories about spring training. You’re more than welcome to follow me along the journey.
