The Houston Astros shut out the St. Louis Cardinals 3-0n on Thursday afternoon at Roger Dean Stadium.
Recap
The Astros got the scoring started early against Cardinals right Jack Flaherty, as All-Star third baseman Alex Bregman laced an RBI single, and the Astros were on the board just six pitches in to the game. Newly acquired first baseman Jose Abreu drove in the second and third runs, as he launched a solo home run in the fourth, and followed it up with an RBI double in the fifth. That would be all the scoring the Astros needed, as the defending champs shut out the Cardinals 3-0.
Astros righty tossed 3.1 scoreless innings, allowing three hits and striking out five while not walking a batter. The Astros used five starters in the victory.
