Hailey Hurst
Hailey Hurst is a third-year journalism student at the University of Florida, with a focus on sports and media. She is a first-generation Latina from South Florida, who is exploring her passions for writing, photography and content production within sports.
Hailey has involved herself in every aspect of sports media to enhance her skills as a multimedia journalist. She is pursuing her fifth semester at The Independent Florida Alligator as an assistant sports editor for Spring 2025. She helps oversee a team of 11 sports reporters who are covering 12 Florida Gators teams. While studying abroad during the Fall semester in 2024, she completed two internships: a communications intern for Merrion Cricket Club in Dublin, Ireland, and a social media intern with NBC Sports at the 2024 Paris Paralympics.
She is actively searching for opportunities within the sports industry involving social media and sports reporting. Eager to embark on a future career path in sideline reporting or social media for a sports team or organization. In her free time, she enjoys cheering on her favorite Miami sports teams, trying new cooking recipes, and exploring hiking trails in Gainesville.
