John Watson

Well hello there! My name is John Watson and I am pursuing a Master’s in Mass Communication from the College of Journalism and Communications at the University of Florida. 

I received my undergraduate degree in Multimedia Journalism from the University of North Florida, where I spent four years learning sports communication and general practices in journalism. In those years in Jacksonville, I spent a lot of time writing, shooting video and editing footage in multiple positions at UNF Spinnaker. From News Director in TV to Sports Editor in News, I covered many D1 sporting activities and have enjoyed the world of sports journalism and writing.

As a master’s student, I am searching for my niche in the sporting world. Whether that be in beat writing, creative marketing or production, I am exploring the options before I head out into the competitive job market. 

I am excited for this opportunity to go to spring training games and explore writing about professional baseball. I have been a lifelong baseball fan, and I love reading and writing stories about the sport. This week-long opportunity is sure to be a fun adventure. 

The creative juices are flowing and I can’t wait to get started.
